WECARRY says it is honoured to win the audience award at the südback Trend Award 2024. südback, one of the largest trade fairs for the bakery trade, honours innovations that enrich the industry with this award. With the WECARRY deposit system for bakeries, the company received the most votes from the public.
‘We firmly believe that sustainable solutions are not only good for the environment, but can also make economic sense. With our deposit system, we not only want to reduce packaging waste, but also raise awareness of sustainable consumption. We are therefore all the more pleased that we were able to convince both the jury and the expert audience at südback,’ says Nelly Mathias, Managing Director of WECARRY.
WECARRY offers a sustainable solution for bakeries: customers can receive bread in deposit bags made from 100% organic cotton and return them. The system reduces packaging waste and helps bakeries to act sustainably. The benefits of WECARRY for bakeries are manifold: in addition to reducing their ecological footprint, bakeries save money on the purchase of disposable packaging. WECARRY takes care of the entire logistics process, including the provision, collection and cleaning of the reusable bags.
Currently, more than 100 bakeries in Southern Germany are already working with the deposit system, saving on disposable packaging every day. However, the start-up will also integrate the remaining federal states into the network in 2025.
