The gluten-free biscuit category in the UK is set for further growth as Tim Tam Original Gluten Free rolls out nationwide in Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores this April, bringing the well-known Australian biscuit to a broader group of consumers seeking indulgent free-from options.
The product will be available in Sainsbury’s from 19 April and Tesco from 27 April, priced at an RRP of £3.50, with the launch timed to coincide with Coeliac Awareness Month in May.
Produced by Arnott’s Group, Tim Tam has long been one of Australia’s most recognisable biscuit brands. The gluten-free version replicates the classic format of the original product, featuring two crisp biscuit layers with a cream centre, coated in a milk-chocolate-flavoured shell.
The product has already gained recognition in the UK market, winning a gold medal at the Free From Food Awards in 2025 shortly after its initial launch.
The expansion reflects rising demand for high-quality gluten-free bakery products. Coeliac disease affects around one in 100 people in the UK, while a much larger group of consumers either manage gluten intolerance or actively reduce gluten intake.
Amber Dutkiewicz, Market Development Manager UK & Ireland, said the aim was to bring a true indulgent experience to the free-from category.
“We know UK shoppers are looking for great-tasting, delicious gluten-free options and not substitutes – they want the real treat experience. Expanding Tim Tam Original Gluten Free into Sainsbury’s and Tesco is a big step in making this a reality for the millions of people across the country who are gluten intolerant or avoiding gluten,” she said.
The wider retail rollout is expected to further strengthen the presence of indulgent gluten-free biscuits within the UK’s rapidly expanding free-from bakery segment.
