Tate & Lyle PLC (Tate & Lyle) hosted the British Ambassador to Slovakia, Nigel Baker, Tate & Lyle’s Chair, David Hearn, and distinguished guests to mark the official opening of expanded capacity at its Boleráz facility in Slovakia for its flagship Non-GMO PROMITOR® Soluble Fibres.
The €25 million investment represents the initial phase of a program aimed at substantially boosting Tate & Lyle’s fibre capacity to cater to its European and worldwide clientele. In addition to enhancing capacity, the initiative yields sustainability advantages through supply chain optimisation and enhanced energy efficiency.
“Tate & Lyle’s proprietary research indicates that more than half (54%) of global consumers plan to augment their fibre intake. With the mounting demand for sugar reduction solutions, fibre assumes a crucial role as a value-added, nutritious bulking ingredient.”
Igor Kovačovič, Tate & Lyle’s Plant Manager at the Boleráz facility, commented: “Through Tate & Lyle’s expertise in fibre production and the latest technology employed, this cutting-edge facility empowers us to broaden existing PROMITOR® product lines and seamlessly introduce new ones in the future.”
The new capacity launch coincides with escalating consumer demand for dietary fibres, not only for digestive health enhancement but also for bolstering overall health, immunity, and mental well-being. PROMITOR® Soluble Fibre, a corn-based soluble fibre boasting over twice the digestive tolerance of inulin, minimises the likelihood of digestive discomfort. Its high fibre content renders it ideal for achieving nutritional targets at lower inclusion levels.
Abigail Storms, Tate & Lyle’s SVP Fibre and Sweetener Platform, remarked: “Our customers recognise Tate & Lyle’s position as a frontrunner in soluble fibre production with capacity across three continents. The integration of this new capacity at our production facility enhances our ability to provide customers with greater fibre supply security and agility, meeting the rising consumer demand for easily accessible fibre-enriched nutrition.”
