A Glasgow bakery is launching a limited-edition Scottie dog biscuit this summer, with every pack sold helping to raise money for people affected by cancer.

McGhee’s Bakery has created a special Scottie dog-shaped biscuit inspired by its sculpture in Maggie’s Scotties in the City trail, with 25p from every packet sold donated directly to Maggie’s.

The biscuits will be available in One-O-One Convenience stores from Thursday 18th June and in SPAR stores across Scotland from 30 July for a limited three-week period, with additional retail listings currently being finalised.

As part of the campaign, trail-goers will also have the chance to claim a pack of free Scottie dog biscuits by finding McGhee’s sculpture on the Scotties in the City trail and redeeming a reward through the official trail app. The free biscuits can then be collected from participating One-O-One Convenience stores  in Glasgow.

The Scotties in the City trail launches on 18 June and will see dozens of decorated Scottie dog sculptures appear across Glasgow, encouraging people to explore the city while raising awareness and funds for Maggie’s.

Maggie’s Glasgow provides free practical, emotional and social support for anyone living with cancer, as well as their family and friends. Located on the Gartnavel General Hospital campus, the centre offers a welcoming space alongside NHS treatment where visitors can access everything from benefits advice and psychological support to specialist workshops and support groups.

McGhee’s sponsored Scottie dog sculpture will be located near Maggie’s Gatehouse Building on Dumbarton Road, allowing visitors to unlock the biscuit reward while learning more about the charity’s work.

Aisling McGhee, Commercial Director at McGhee’s Bakery, said: “Maggie’s is an organisation that means a great deal to many families across Glasgow and Scotland. We wanted to find a way to support the charity that would encourage people to get involved with the trail while also raising vital funds for the incredible work the team does every day.

“With 25p from every packet donated to Maggie’s, the biscuits will help fund the practical, emotional and social support the charity provides to people affected by cancer.”

“We’re also excited to reward people taking part in the trail. We hope families, visitors and biscuit lovers alike will enjoy hunting down our Scottie, unlocking  free biscuits and discovering more about Maggie’s along the way.”

Hayley Smith, Scotties in the City Project Manager at Maggie’s, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Scotties in the City art trail to Glasgow. The trail has enormous potential to bring people together as well as raise awareness of Maggie’s as a charity supporting individuals and their families through cancer and treatment.

“We are over the moon to have McGhee’s Bakery on board as a Scottie sponsor and to also have their fantastic Scottie-inspired gingerbread biscuits in stores around Scotland supporting Maggie’s this summer.

“The McGhee’s very own giant Scottie sculpture will be positioned outside the Maggie’s Gatehouse building on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow – in all its glory, for everyone to see!

“At the end of the trail, we will host an evening where we will auction off our beautiful giant Scotties, with the aim of raising as much money to help Maggie’s support as many people with cancer and their friends and family as possible.”

The limited-edition McGhee’s Scottie dog biscuits will be available in participating One-O-One convenience stores from Thursday 18 June and SPAR stores from 30 July while stocks last, with 25p from every pack sold donated to Maggie’s.
