Sustainable premium grocery subscription service Earth & Wheat has launched the world’s first all-in-one bread and veg box delivered direct to your door.

The food-waste-fighting brand has expanded its range to provide its customers with a solution which means using less cardboard waste whilst providing more ‘flexibility’ and ‘convenience’.

Earth & Wheat’s new tasty combination boxes contain the most popular fresh wonky and surplus bread rescued from bakeries and perfectly imperfect but tasty vegetables redistributed from farms.

These breads and vegetables would have otherwise been binned due to odd shape or size, unusual colour or appearance. The food might also have been thrown away due to overproduction, which is a common issue with food manufacturers.

Earth & Wheat customers are also given the option of mixing and matching their all-in-one bread and veg boxes. Depending on the selection, the bread box can include crumpets, pancakes, tortilla wraps, flatbreads, pittas and even naans, while the veg may comprise of white potatoes, red onions, peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, white cabbage, chillies, courgetti, corn on the cob and green beans. The bread is situated at the top of box and the vegetables at the bottom with an insert dividing the rescued food to allow safe and sound delivery.

The Earth & Wheat Essentials Bread & Vegetables Wonky Box starts from £18.99. The subscription options are weekly, fortnightly, every three weeks or once a month and can still be paused or stopped at any time.

Earth & Wheat will continue to donate one meal for every box sold to food charities which redistribute surplus food to schools, community groups, tenant, and housing associations and more.

Earth & Wheat launched the world’s first ‘wonky bread’ box in March 2021 with the concept of rescuing baked goods from bakeries which would have otherwise been thrown away and gone to landfill due to strict shop standards.

The FoodTech start-up branched out and released a wonky veg box in May 2022.

Earth & Wheat founder James Eid said: “We’re very excited about the launch of our new all-in-one bread boxes. Earth & Wheat is continuing to innovate and come up with ideas that will make a difference to the planet. Despite all our cardboard delivery boxes being recyclable, they can sometimes still end up in landfill from people’s homes which can have an impact on the environment.

“By providing mixed boxes for customers who purchase both our bread and veg boxes, we’re now offering a convenient solution which sees a reduction in material consumption and logistical emissions associated with split box deliveries.

“This is not only even more sustainable, but it also provides flexibility because it means customers can mix and match boxes. It is also super convenient as all their wonky and ultra-fresh bread and vegetables arrive in one box! As the UK’s first sustainable premium grocery subscription service, we continue innovating to allow customers to taste more and waste less.”
