Kingsmill’s new Traffic Light Labelling to hit the shelves

Kingsmill (UK) is the latest company to include the ‘traffic light’ labelling system to its range of bakery products to apply the UK Governments’ recommended Front of Pack Nutrition Labelling Scheme.
Kingsmill will release the new labels this month. The ‘traffic light’ system will show salt, sugar, fat and saturated fat content information with red representing high in fat, amber as medium and green as low. The Department of Health has found that ‘traffic light’ labels are rated highly with customers by providing at-a-glance information.

The system was developed earlier last year based upon designs created by Bell Integrated Communications. So far, major food brands have implemented the scheme including Hovis and Nestle, as well as UK retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda.
