Advocacy groups drive G.M.O. labels
A letter signed by over 200 food safety groups, food companies and environmental organisations in the US was sent to President Obama, encouraging the inclusion of labelling that outlines food products that are bioengineered.
The letter was highlighted by representative Peter DeFazio of Oregon at a press conference on 16th January 2014. National polls have shown that 93% of Americans support genetically modified labelling as consumers are increasingly wanting to be aware of how their food is produced.
